A New Beginning … October 2009

Trout Unlimited

2009 marks a new era for Washington Rivers Conservancy – Washington Rivers Conservancy (WRC) is pleased to announce that in the next couple of weeks we will be joining with one of America’s most esteemed conservation leaders, Trout Unlimited (TU), as part of their Western Water Project.  This exciting change means we will be able to expand our important partnerships with farmers, ranchers, government agencies and others.

WRC has been working on this “merger” for the past year and decided to move ahead because it will enhance our work with all of our partners.   Our name is changing – our work and mission are not.  Like WRC, TU’s Western Water Project works on collaborative projects and policies that improve streamflows, river habitats, and water management for people, fish and wildlife species while respecting the needs of agriculture and local communities.  The Washington office will continue to be led by a locally-based advisory group.

The WRC Board of Directors and staff see this as an incredible opportunity to expand and build our existing programs and are excited to be joining TU and work with the local TU Chapters and the State Council.   Read more about TU and the Western Water Project at www.tu.org.  Our new name is the Trout Unlimited-Washington Water Project.

Thanks for your continued support of our mission!

During our transition period, this Web site will remain up and running to provide a full range of background about our program and projects. Our address and phone number will remain the same as they were for WRC.
